CLEASBY LAKE - FISHING RULES

ALL ANGLERS FISH AT THEIR OWN RISK

DAWN TO DUSK FISHING ONLY

100% CATCH AND RELEASE

  1. ALL anglers must be members of the Club, carry their Membership Cards and display their car parking tickets.
  2. NO guest tickets issued for this water. STRICTLY MEMBERS ONLY, although non-fishing guests allowed.
  3. Under 16s MUST be accompanied by an adult.
  4. Parking ONLY in the allotted area, not on the road or near the gates. Vehicular access to the eastern side of the lake will be for Blue Badge holders only and must be displayed and prohibited during poor ground condition.
  5. REMOVING fish is strictly prohibited.( OFFENDERS WILL BE PROSECUTED UNDER
    THE THEFT ACT 1968.) INTRODUCING fish is also banned.
  6. NO fishing or entry into the Nature Reserve.
  7. BARBLESS hooks only. When pike fishing anglers must use MINIMUM size 6 barbless hooks.
  8. LANDING NETS to be used at all times. Nets with minimum width of 42ins required when fishing for pike or carp.
  9. Unhooking mats to be used and all fish to be treated with respect and care. No fish like to be squeezed or dropped. Keep all fish in the water during unhooking.
  10. NO KEEP NETS allowed at any time.
  11. Proper DISGORGERS must be used as necessary.
  12. NO fishing with MORE THAN TWO RODS and never to be left unattended.
  13. All traditional HOOK BAITS allowed but no nuts, power bait, gels, pastes etc.
  14. NO GROUND BAITING, loose feed only, via hand, feeders or pole cups etc.
  15. NO live baiting.
  16. NO spinning using the following:

- Crank or Jerk bait

- Spinner blades or spoons

- Any lure with a treble hook. 

  Allowed:  Single-hooked barbless shad lure. (Contact a member of the Committee if you are   unsure)

  1. Mono/Braided line must be a minimum 20lb breaking strain for dead baiting and lure fishing (spinning) this is to ensure line breaks are avoided. 
  2. NO WADING or seats/boxes in the water.
  3. NO radios or dogs allowed, except by permission from the Hon. Secretary.
  4. NO alcohol, mobile phones (except for emergency use) or fires allowed.
  5. Pike fishing allowed from 1st October to end of February.
  6. All gates must be kept locked, even when you are fishing.
  7. The CLUB and its members will have the right to enquire into and take appropriate action (under Rules 6 and 8) in the event of any infringement of the above rules.
