RULES

NAME OFTHE CLUB

  1. The Club shall be called 'THE DARLINGTON ANGLERS' CLUB' and the Members thereof shall contribute towards the expenses of promoting and preserving the Fishery.

All surplus income or profits are to be reinvested in the club. No surpluses or assets will be distributed to members or third parties-

If at any General Meeting of the Club, a resolution be passed calling for the dissolution of the Club, the Secretary shall immediately convene a Special General Meeting of the Club to be held not less than I month thereafter to discuss and vote on the resolution.

If at that Special General Meeting, the resolution is carried by at least two thirds of the full members present at the meeting, the general Committee shall thereupon or at such a date as shall have been specified in the resolution, proceed to realise the assets of the Club and discharge all debts and liabilities of the Club.

After discharging all debts and liabilities of the Club, the remaining assets shall not be paid or distributed amongst the Full Members of the Club but shall be given or transferred to another registered CASC, a registered charity or the sport’s governing body for use by them in relation to community sports.

The main purposes of the club are to provide facilities for and to promote participation in the amateur sport of fishing in and around Darlington County Durham. Membership of the club shall be open to anyone interested in the sport on application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. However, limitation of membership according to available facilities is allowable on a non-discriminatory basis.

The Club Committee may refuse membership, or remove it, only for good cause such as conduct or character likely to bring the club or sport into disrepute. Appeal against refusal or removal may be made to members.

ANNUAL MEETING

  1. The Annual General Meeting of the club shall be held during February or March and any change in Rules affecting the Club shall be made at the Annual Meeting or at a Special General Meeting,

SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

3 A Special General Meeting of the Club shall be called by the Committee on the requisition of ten Members, and the Secretary shall give fourteen days’ notice of the meeting.

NEW RULES AND ALTERATION TO RULES

  1. Any Member wishing to propose a new Rule or alteration of an existing Rule, shall give notice and forward a copy of such Rule, or alteration, to the Secretary before the end of January and the Secretary shall give notice and send a copy to the Members in the circular convening the Annual Meeting or the Special General Meeting.

OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE

  1. The affairs of the Club shall be under the direction of a Committee. The President, eight Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary, together with eight other Members shall form the Committee, and five shall be a quorum. The Officers of the Club and other Members of the Committee shall be elected at the Annual Meeting and shall hold office for one year, but shall be eligible for re-election.

BYE-LAWS

  1. The Committee shall have the power to make Byelaws for the direction and management and shall have power to borrow money or pledge the assets of the Club, to offer rewards for the apprehension of poachers, and to take such other legal means for the protection of the Fishery as it may think proper.

ELECTION OF MEMBERS

  1. The election of Members shall be by the Committee. Any person wanting to become a Member of the Club shall send an application to the Secretary. Thereafter intending members shall be recorded on a waiting list for when vacancies occur. The Committee decision will be final.

ANNUAL SUINRIITION AND TIME OF PAYMENT

  1. The Annual subscription shall be payable in advance on the I st day of January and not later than the Annual General Meeting. Payment by Bank Transfer is preferred, with full details contained on the Club's website. NO MEMBER MAY FISH UNTIL THEIR SUBSCRIPTION HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL.

WITHDRAWALS OF MEMBERS

  1. Any Member wishing to withdraw from the Club must give notice to the Secretary on or before the end of December and return their Membership Card.

NO VISITORS ALLOWED TO FISH CLEASBY LAKE OR FISH FOR SALMON.

Proposing Members will be held responsible for the visitors conduct and observation of all Rules and boundaries.

LANDOWNERS TICKET

  1. Each Riparian Owner or Tenant (where Fishery Rights are vested in such Tenant), on application to the Secretary shall, at the discretion of the Committee, be entitled to two Tickets to fish, for the use of themselves, members of their family or friends, on all Club Waters.

ANGLERS TO CARRY MEMBERSHIP CARD AND DISPLAY CAR PARKING PASS

  1. Every Angler must cany their membership card and valid Environment Agency Fishing Licence with them and when required, to show the same to any Bailiff, Club Watcher, Club Member, Riparian Owner, or Tenant. Members should show courtesy to fellow Members and all the above persons. Under 16's shall be allowed to fish if only accompanied by a Senior Member.

CLUB ADOPTS 100% CATCH AND RELEASE

  1. "No Kill" policy, this means no fish including salmon, sea trout, brown trout, grayling and no coarse fish can be killed or removed from the Clubs waters,

ACCESS

  1. Anglers must keep to the footpaths, close all gates, commit no damage to woods, plantations, or fences, leave no litter and must not be accompanied by any dogs. Any damage to notice boards should be reported to the Secretary immediately with culprits' names if possible.

Access to the water must be by the recognised access points indicated on the website. Neither the Club, Riparian owners or tenants can accept liability for any damage or loss to Members property, including vehicles whilst on any Club Waters

Members are required to read and comply with these rules.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  1. All persons (members, guests and permit holders) fishing club waters do so at their own risk It is a requirement that all anglers read, understand and accept the Safety and Risk assessment Statement available on the Clubs website.

CONDUCT

  1. If any Member shall have wilfully refused or neglected to comply with the provision of these Rules, or any Bye-Laws made by the Committee under Rule 6, or shall have been guilty of any conduct unworthy of a Club Member, or if the Club require that they no longer be a Member of the Club, such a Member shall, in any such case be liable to expulsion by a Resolution of the Committee, provided that at least one week before the Meeting at which such Resolution is passed, they shall have notice thereof of the Intended Resolution for their expulsion, and that they shall at such Meeting and before the passing of such Resolution have had an opportunity of giving orally or in writing, any explanation or defence they may think fit. Any Member expelled under the Rule shall forfeit all right and claim upon the Club and its property and return their Membership Card to the Hon. Secretary.

SPECIAL RULES

   Members and accompanied guests only.

  1. All legitimate forms of fishing are allowed on Club waters, except where otherwise stated.
  2. Members shall not have more than 2 rods in use at any time,
  3. Keep nets maybe used on the river in the coarse season only, all trout must be returned to the water immediately and not kept in keep nets.
  4. No ground baiting or feeding/fishing with maggots allowed on river waters during the trout and closed season before 16th June.
  5. Spinning is prohibited on any Club waters between 1st March and 15th June inclusive, except for salmon fishing.
  6. Members wishing to fish for salmon must obtain a Special Permit, on request from the Honorary Secretary enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.
  7. Members catching a salmon must inform the Hon. Secretary within 48 hours, giving the weight of fish, method used, date of capture and location.
  8. Competition or match fishing only allowed at the discretion of the Committee
  9. The completion of the annual catch return is mandatory to all members.
